Ran in conjunction with The University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, we offer a number of legal and marketing internships throughout the year where interns can see the work that we do, experience life and a paralegal and get to know our team.

"I was fortunate enough to undertake a 100-hour internship at IHLS. During this time, I was able to learn a lot about the commercial and transactional work done by the solicitors and paralegals for their clients. This was by overseeing cliental projects, sitting in on clients’ meetings and reviewing different documents, comments, then receiving feedback. Laura Keane was my mentor during my time, setting my tasks for each day, I carried out what work I could for specific clients, which she oversaw. She ensured that I was confident in whatever tasks I was doing whilst making the experience interesting and informative. As well as this, I shadowed the other staff who sent me training documents and were happy to teach me more about their clients and what their work comprises. The internship is a great opportunity for any students who are after learning/work experience in a commercial law setting. I was taught so much about the work the firm does and gain a real insight into how this area operates. "In my Internship at IHLS, I had the opportunity to gain a substantial insight into the legal world, through the shadowing of senior and trainee solicitors and paralegals. At this position, I had the chance to engage in client meetings and assist in the drafting of legal documents while also leading business development projects directly linked to clients of the firm. I also had the opportunity to receive valuable training on the various legal services IHLS provides to its clients and represent the firm at networking events. "IHLS provided me with a fantastic opportunity to gain some hands on marketing experience which I was looking for, to really see what it would be like working in this role that I had a keen interest in. Throughout my marketing assistant internship I was given control over the company’s social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn, in order to help boost their social presence, as well as posting blog articles on the company’s website. In addition I was able to produce a leaflet that can be used at careers events for potential employees. Furthermore, I was allowed to be a part of the process of planning the development of the new website, by going to potential client meetings and reviewing briefs they had provided. As a first-year student studying Business with International Business at LJMU, the opportunity to partake in an internship at IHLS was one I couldn’t let pass me by. Unsure of what path I want to pursue in the future, working as an intern at In-House Legal has given me a huge and valuable insight into the operations and functions of a real-life law firm. The opportunity to shadow, assist and work alongside paralegals and the head of operations has shown me not only how the legal work is handled and dealt with, but also the behind the scenes and how the business runs, giving me a deeper understanding that I could never get from my studies alone. During my time at IHLS, I prepared scorecards for the paralegals, learned, and utilised the AI software and organised many of the legal documents. I also received the opportunity to attend an AI training course, which was very interesting, and I learned a lot about how AI is a huge asset for law firms. I was able to apply the knowledge I had learned in my course into real life business situations. The team have been lovely and made me feel very included, answering any questions I had and inviting me to their monthly meetings.

During my time as a legal intern at In-House Legal Solutions, I've had the privilege of gaining invaluable insights into various sides of corporate law. From learning more about Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) to understanding importance of restrictive covenant within NDAs, and how NDAs are executed, every experience has been an enriching learning opportunity. The comprehensive training I’ve received in drafting release letters and non-release letters and learning and using new tools like Luminance and Denovo has equipped me with practical skills essential for the legal landscape. What truly sets In-House Legal Solutions apart is its supportive team environment. Collaborating with legal professionals who readily offer guidance and mentorship has not only enhanced my understanding of legal processes but also fostered personal growth. My time as marketing intern at IHLS has sadly come to an end! Over the last couple of months, I have been working alongside marketing executive Abbie whose guidance and mentorship have been instrumental in shaping my marketing skills and knowledge. My time at In-House Legal Solutions has been nothing but a positive experience! As a second-year university student, I was unsure on the type of legal path I wanted to take. The IHLS employees have provided invaluable advice regarding different routes available to me, giving me an insight into their own individual journeys. The opportunity to undertake live work such as marking up contracts for our regular clients has allowed me to apply and develop my theoretical knowledge to practical situations. It is important that us students gain training that we will take forward with us regardless of what route we take, and this internship has provided me with this; From drafting a variety of contracts, familiarising myself to the case management system and the AI system, Luminance, as well as acknowledging the importance of effective organisation of files and documents. No question has been left unanswered and the opportunity to sit in on client meetings and pitches, and the chance to represent IHLS at networking events shows just how eager the staff are for us to take full advantage of this experience. A combination of the welcoming and supportive employees alongside the workload given to me, has allowed me to truly cherish this opportunity and to thrive in such a dynamic workspace!
