A large multinational professional services firm with multiple offices throughout the UK and abroad had been operating for a number of years without any internal legal support. They had external law firms providing specialist support where necessary, but day to day legal matters were dealt with by the partnership or senior staff.
IHLS provided a team of lawyers which encompassed a fractional general counsel, junior lawyers and paralegals to assist the client on an on-demand basis. IHLS assessed the legal risks facing the business and the put in place immediate support for day to matters, such as fixed fee negotiation of NDAs, support for client comments on engagement terms, and supported the firm on general commercial contracts, outsourcing and IT procurement. Over time IHLS assisted in the creation of processes for managing legal risk and how legal agreements were approved and entered into by the firm, as well as providing strategic guidance on risk issues such as the increasing use of software on client work and matters, and intragroup arrangements.
The client was able to obtain legal support quickly and seamlessly from an experienced team who understood the dynamics of providing legal advice in an in-house environment.
