Our Team

Meet Mark Hughes, a commercial lawyer with a legal career approaching 20 years across both in-house and private practice disciplines. Mark joins the team as a senior solicitor and brings with him a wealth of experience in commercial contract drafting, negotiation, and legal operations.

Prior to joining IHLS, Mark started work within the in-house contracts team at an international publishing house with a focus on digital content and later moved to a GC role in the software-as-a-service space for a tech start-up. Since moving to the North West, Mark operated within the legal managed services sector with Riverview Law, before then moving into private practice with Liverpool-based firm O’Connors. Across these roles, Mark has developed a great understanding and passion for commercial contracting with a particular focus on digital solutions, data protection, and intellectual property rights management.

At the heart of Mark’s work, he looks to support each client’s growth and development with pragmatic solutions that also protect the firm’s digital footprint through software/SaaS agreements, privacy policies, terms of use, IP licensing, and, more recently, by managing the opportunities and threats posed by AI.

Fun fact: Mark has written nearly 500 articles about whisky!
